Rental Terms and Cancellations

These terms apply to all boat and equipment rentals, as well as guided and self-guided trips on Lake Saimaa, between Rentsa · Patakymppi Oy (hereinafter the "lessor") and the customer (hereinafter the "renter").

1. Handover and return of equipment

The rented equipment is handed over to the customer in working condition, cleaned, and fitted with the agreed safety and additional equipment. The renter must inspect the equipment at handover together with a representative of the lessor. The equipment must be returned at the agreed time to the departure location in the same condition as it was handed over, except for normal wear and tear. A late return will incur an additional fee according to the price list.

2. Careful use and safety

The renter agrees to use the equipment carefully, with respect for the prevailing weather and water conditions, and in accordance with the safety and operating instructions provided by the lessor. The renter must be at least 18 years old and is responsible for ensuring that the boat's operator has sufficient skill and ability to navigate safely on the water.

All passengers must wear life jackets while on the water. The equipment may not be handed over to a third party, nor used for unlawful purposes or while under the influence of intoxicants.

3. Responsibility of the vessel's skipper

During the rental period, the renter (the lessee) acts as the skipper of the vessel as defined in the Water Traffic Act. There is always one named person acting as skipper at a time.

  • The skipper is responsible for the operation and safety of the boat.
  • The skipper is responsible for instructing the passengers.
  • The skipper ensures that boating does not cause danger or nuisance to others or to the environment.

4. Liability for damages – you break it, you pay for it

The renter is liable for all damage, loss, and breakage occurring during the rental period, regardless of whether it is caused intentionally or through negligence. The principle is simple: **you break it, you pay for it**.

If the equipment breaks or is lost during the rental, the renter agrees to reimburse the repair or replacement costs in full, based on the actual costs incurred. The lessor is not liable for personal injury or property damage to the renter or passengers resulting from the renter's actions or weather conditions.

5. Cancelling a booking and weather reservation

You can cancel your booking free of charge no later than **two hours before the agreed start time of the rental**. Your confirmation email contains a personal cancellation link, which you can use to cancel immediately as a self-service action, freeing the trip slot back up for booking.

If less than two hours remain before the trip, or you are unable to arrive, please contact us immediately by email at info@rentsa.fi.

**Weather reservation:** Lake Saimaa can be unpredictable. We will call you on the day of the trip to confirm safe conditions. If wind or weather does not permit going out on the water, we will reschedule the trip together to a new time or cancel the booking free of charge.

6. Questions about the terms?

If you have questions about the rental agreement or changing your booking, we are happy to help.
